Greetings!! Today, I thought I would begin the Blog was delight and humor…
This past Saturday I was trying to see what might be interesting on Television. I came upon an old comedy show “Brooklyn Bridge”. The creator and producer was Gary David Goldberg who based this series upon his own childhood. The program was from September 1991 to August 1993. The premise is about a Jewish American family living in Brooklyn in the mid-1950’s.
Well!!! I could not believe my eyes. It was Legion Av, Oak Street, Grand Av all wrapped into one. I was transported back into those days and how we lived our lives. The setting was just like we lived with in our homes. All the characters were just like our friends and family. It was so interesting I called a couple of friends and told them to tune into the show. It was found on a channel called “Catchy Comedy”. Hopefully Catchy Comedy will run the show again.
The music was created by Marvin Hamlisch with composers Alan and Marilyn Bergman. The opening theme was sung by Art Garfunkel – “Just Over the Brooklyn Bridge”. Though short lived the series won a Golden Globe for Best Television Comedy and nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series 1992. The cast members are all superb as well. It is not to be missed.
So, all in all, it was so very pleasant to recall those happy and fun-filled days.
All the best…..more to come!!
