SUMMARY:Author Talk: Dual Identities by Arthur Horwitz
DESCRIPTION:What does it mean to inherit a history you never personally lived through\, yet still carry every day? \nOn Tuesday\, June 16 at 7 PM\, join us at the JCC of Greater New Haven for an evening with Arthur Myron Horwitz\, celebrating the release of his new memoir\, Dual Identities: Living in Meier’s Shadow. \nRaised in New Haven\, Arthur is deeply connected to our city’s Jewish history and our organization. Both of his parents were leaders of JHSGNH\, and both Arthur and his mother have contributed to our Jews in New Haven series. \nIn his book\, he draws on his experience as the child of a Holocaust survivor\, exploring the lasting impact of memory\, trauma\, identity\, and family legacy across generations. His story is personal\, honest\, and profoundly relevant at a moment when conversations about Jewish identity and resilience feel more urgent than ever. \nThe program will also feature a special video tribute honoring Arthur’s mother\, Sally Horwitz\, a Holocaust survivor who was the first individual interviewed for the Yale Fortunoff Holocaust testimony archive. The evening will conclude with a Q&A\, refreshments\, and a book signing.
